The best digital camera for modeling/fashion photography?
30Aug 2010
I will be working with models and actors in the near future and I would like to know which digital camera is best for shooting headshots for actors and fashion photos for models. I am completely new to this modeling/acting scene so any tips and advice be appreciated. Thanks.
My suggestion would be to go for an entry level camera like a Canon XSi. Entry level cameras and mid level cameras usually share the same image quality. With the mid level cameras you’ll be getting faster frame rate, better build quality, faster autofocus. These are all things that would have minimal effect on fashion/model photography. I’d buy the entry level camera and use the rest of the money for really good quality lenses. Like something from Canon’s L line.

I use a Nikon D300 and D3 with a variety of lenses.

It’s not the camera, it’s the photographer!
But I would recommend any DSLR body and a 50mm lens for headshots.
