I’ve allways loved phrotography and now im really wanting to get into it, currently the camera i have is the Sony Cybershot, its okay but not really good. I have a friend who has the Nikon D40 and she says its amazing. Though I am a little tight on money, since my Cybershot is very lightly used with no damage, I’m going to sell it so I can buy a nicer camera.
Does anyone know of a good beginner phrotographer camera that is somewhat afforadable? Thank you!

Nikon D40 is a good digital slr camera that good for beginner who looking into photography and cheapest price in market.

but if you can’t afford that good point & shoot camera like Nikon Coolpix P90 would be your good choice.12.1MP with 24x Wide Angle Optical Vibration Reduction (VR) Zoom and 3 inch Tilt LCD

How good of friends are you with the friend who as the Nikon D40?
The reason I ask is because you are close you could get into the same camera system and share lens and accessories.

Have your friend teach you about the nikon d40. Play with hers so you can learn a little about dslrs. also play with a couple at you local camera store and see what you like. In the end the two cheapest will be the nikon d40 and the canon xs. If you buy from you will find the the kits they are selling give you the most bang for your buck.

If you are really on a budget and want the best quality for the money, check out the P&S Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 [with a Leica lense] which has more features than most pro DSLRs that require auxiliary lenses not even equal to the single initial full-range lense that comes with the FZ28. It is reviewed at:

It’s an all-in-one 10.1 megapixel digital camera which includes (i) built-in image stabilization; (ii) HD720 quality video [Quicktime] which permits zooming while videoing skateboarding, action sports; (iii) a 18x zoom [27 - 486 mm (35mm equiv.)] “Leica” lense for nature and concert photography; (iv) up to 0.39 inch macro option; (v) up to 6400 ASA; (vi) takes up to 380 pictures per 120 min. battery charge; (vii) has a “burst speed” of 13 fps; and sells new for $464 at amazon.com. in the U.S.

Here’s an actual handheld picture of the moon:

Good luck!
